it will be like a cup final won with a poor refereeing decision. Hot air, howling, an official disciplined, but nothing changes.
The sport is damaged today, badly.

This was Derby vs Forest in a cup final with Derby having been all over Forest all game and winning 5-0 and in the 89th minute the ref saying the next goal wins the match and proceeds to give Forest a penalty.

Didn't think the FIA would rule against its own employees tonight so was expecting those two outcomes so now it goes to the European court of Arbitration I think.

Personally I'm gutted but I think Merc should just leave it be, they've been humble throughout the hybrid era not taking any win for granted nevermind championships but now might be seen as sore loser's

I know sweet FA about F1, but watched the end and frankly I was completely puzzled by what happened. It seemed to me to be a complete travesty and as you say, I can't see Mercedes taking this on the chin. An utter shambles!

It was a double shambles, because firstly the rules applied correctly in that situation are unfair on a leader, and secondly the rules were appplied wrongly and even more to the leaders' disadvantage. AND there's a rule been found that basically says, 'forget all the actual rules, the race director can do what he wants'

It was farcical making a lottery of decisions to change tyres that work against the leader. I suspect that the decision to give TV a one lap race underpinned the decision, rather than having a processional finish in a snake behind safety car

All said and done the "sport" needed a new champion and at least it won't be "Hamilton for SPOTY" later this month....

Just to throw in that, despite all the controversy, Hamilton was still overtaken at the end.

Ah I see or rather I'm still puzzled but maybe its all a plot o ramp up the publicity around F1 and have a new champion?
