In both cases I think it boils down to how much money we could get by selling them in January. The business model for the club is to buy promising talent, develop it and then sell it on at a sufficient profit to reinvest in the next promising talent. In the case of Cal Roberts we extended his contract early so we could demand a significant fee if someone comes in, but I can't see the potential suitors for Wootton and Rodrigues shelling out a large amount in January for players they could nab for free when their contracts expire only a few months later.

Apologies I thought his contract was up this summer too, but I'm pleased it isn't!

In that case, the bid for Ruben would have to be well into six figures to justify selling him at this stage.

Yeah I know that’s the model but in the case of Wooton, what’s the most we’re going to get in Jan for him, 100k? Is it worth it to risk promotion with half the season to go? As for RR I would hope in summer they could get around 300k + if he keeps his form up and plus gives us time for a replacement in the summer.

I’m guessing whatever you could get for KW in Jan would it cover the cost of getting a like for like or hopefully better replacement in?

Definitely not, I bet in the last 10 years not many clubs have signed ready made 20+ goal a season strikers in Jan regardless of the money

Isle Macleod is a good recent case to look at, it’s going to be an interesting few weeks!
