Gelhardt plays mainly as a robust 'striker' but can also play the second striker as at Wigan where he often played on the wing as a attacking-midfielder - so was seen as versatile prospect addition as he's not the tallest at 5'9 to lead the line.

Presently the U23's strikers are Sam Greenwood, Max Dean & Gelhardt in the 19 man squad including 2 keepers, one being Klaesson the first team bench keeper.

So IF the Fernandez deal is done he'll go into U23 set up & if you understand how MB 'works his players in' maybe the proposed deal is not so confusing or bizarre.

Lots of Tax rules in football nowadays globally for sure.

Yep, the gain on the disposal can be reinvested into new player acquisitions on the making of a reinvestment relief claim but where players are acquired from a Spanish club via the so-called buyout clause, additional care is needed to ensure that no adverse employment tax consequences arise. Clubs also now need to consider if image rights payments are subject to royalty or annual payment withholding taxes.

FFP/Profitability and Sustainability rules obviously kick in regarding in's & out's. He did quite well for us when in the Championship (before and after Bielsaball was introduced), at least as well as the club record signing.

Roofe is too injury prone and the other two aren’t good enough if we want to improve signifcantly. Saiz has been a disaster since the trauma in his personal life for very understandable reasons.

Breretin Diaz is knocking them in for fun, strong and skilful and young so will develop further.

They need two decent solid midfielders who don’t give the ball away stupidly.

Above all we need the injured to be healed and stay fit so that we can get continuity.

Even City, Liverpool and Chelsea would be hugely deminished with 11 first team players out.
Liverpool lost two key players last year and struggled to compete at that top.

We have the core of the squad that looked crap under Heckingbottom still and most of those aren’t good enough to allow us to take the next step and some are now old in football terms.

And all the recent imports have been so world class? I (and many others) would have Alioski back in place of Firpo in a heartbeat, Roofe may be "delicate" (although I'm not sure about that, having survived two seasons under Bielsa and prospered, unlike a number of our current brood), but when he plays, he scores, unlike the vast majority of our new crop, and who is to say we couldn't be the salve to Saiz's issues? We've spent a shedful of money to get sweet f00k all capability, those three would be relatively inexpensive by comparison.
