The death of Tam Harvey, top guitarist, writer and co-founder of The Humblebums with Billy Connolly, was announced yesterday. They were aye a big hit in the folk clubs, but their poppier (if you’re into all that strict genre pish) direction following the co-option of Gerry Rafferty meant Harvey left to do his own thing, generally content to eke out a living on the folk circuit and adding bluegrass instrumentation to others’ recordings. Age not revealed, but he must have been in his late 70s, I guess.

All The Humblebums’ Transatlantic material has been re-released digitally in recent years. Gerry’s material from that time is magical.

Ach.
