He'll get a positive reaction if he continues to play well. And if you assume players are motivated by cash, hence some moves, why wouldn't they be motivated for goal/win bonuses etc? It was mentioned in the aborted 19/20 season that the players bagged a fair whack of the 'unexpected' prize money from our high finish that year, it won't be any different now. And never mind any outside chance he has of a Scotland call, it's safe to assume Watt would consider it in his own self-interest to arrive at Tannadice match sharp and ready to go rather than off the pace.

Ultimately the management and staff at FP know his personality better than anyone else and they will make the decision they believe will bring us the best results.

I agree the staff at FP will know a helluvva lot more about his character / mind-set / personality than I (or other outsiders) do. However, IMO, he won't give it all as he's done previously, and if we don't take any potential monies now it's a bad decision. Just saying ...

Dundee Utd will be his 13th (!!!) club as a 27-yr old. Mair clubs than Jack Nicklaus!! Hopefully, MFC will prove to have been his peak.

Appears did not put up much of fight to retain his services beyond contract end.
Perhaps is not in GA plans and prepared for him run out his contract and hence why Watt has jumped early with only Dundee Utd a suitable suitor and offering 3 year contract

Accept Watt has had a purple patch recent months and suggest him moving a benefit to both club and player.

The Daily Record suggests United could offer us a couple of players in addition to cash to get Watt in January. Not convinced that'll work out easily but we'll see.

Swaps between clubs at the same level can be very convenient but this is a time where it just looks odd. We have bodies in defence and midfield so would only want an upgrade from United or a blue chip prospect - which they wouldn't give us. We're short up front if Watt goes but if they're signing him to replace what they've got, why would we take them?

United do have (potentially) very decent kids coming through and getting a couple of them would be a boost...but I just don't see it.
