How could I dare forget big AL, vasoline over the eyebrows, mass of curly hair and chipped in with plenty of headed goals.😁

Just out of interest, are you primarily an Arab or a Stokie? I only ask, cos back in the early 90s I travelled up to the greyest place on the planet, for John Clarke’s testimonial. At the time, I was living in Newcastle Under Lyme, and most of my mates were Stoke fans.

So I thought, F… it, I’ll have a weekend in Dundee (having only been to Dundee for work at the Michelin depot). Not a colourful place is it? But the welcome was incredibly warm and the generosity second to none.

A great weekend, ruined by 2 sh1te football teams kicking an empty bag of Haggis around for 90 mins.

That's just it David, do we hold an emotional tie to our players anymore, the way we always have? Or do we become Robots, obsessed with success, and progression?

The days of average, but extremely likable and loyal players, are now a thing of the past. As are economically challenged fans.

Football of our generation died long ago.

I am the bringer of 'Doooooom'.

I'm Dundee United through and through but adopted Stoke as my English team on a drunken night out with my Stokie mate' I was at the game again't Stoke for JC's testimonial (1996?) - we had a great day with the Stoke City fans and kept in touch with each other. Live in Somerset now and go to watch whoever I can some Saturdays (the Bristol teams, Exeter. Torquay or Argyle because I hate Saturdays without football).

Went to a club called Zanzibar (approx 2000), what a $hit hole. Also remember a pub called the Boozy Dog.

I was there from 81-98 when I left for Holland. I only go back for the far too frequent funerals, but not since Covid. I haven’t ventured into either of those establishments since the late 80s, even then, both were only ever venues for a late pint and a fight.

Very funny reading that a native of Dundee would have the neck to call anywhere else a sh1thole. Enjoy your time with the ‘Carrot Crunchers’, green fields and blue skies must be like some kind of witchcraft to you.

    Back to topic, sorry.

I like the look of Digne, but Bissouma? Hasn't he got a serious criminal investigation going on?
