Well, well, well. Another turn up.
Ironic really. How many times have we got to this time of year in a seemingly strong position only to screw up over Christmas? Now, when it looks like a lost cause (hope I’m wrong...again) we suddenly look like a team.
    Well done to all.

Happy to finally have a guesstimate come true.

y heart went out to Stears who, IMO, had more than earned the right to keep his place. I had the thought that we might go with a back 3 of Jags Stears and Curt. I was wrong.

We benefitted in the opening 20 from them not having played for 3 weeks and the opener came in that period. After that they found their rhythm and the game was more even.

For maybe the 4th time this season we had a decent ref. Got almost everything right, tried to let the game flow and was consistent. That's all we ask from a ref, isn't it? IMO, if we'd had the same ref as in the Baggies match we'd have got a free kick for the tackle on Loz rather than the opening goal.

    Fans were excellent again.

Using my far from scientific extrapolation method of forecasting, providing the other relegation candidates stick on their current PPG average we need to average 1.63 a game to stay up. Of course, we can't bank on that provision. Survival is possible but still unlikely at the moment. That can change over the next few weeks. One game at a time.

One thing is for sure, if it looks like 'its on' the EFL will delve into their little black book looking for some obscure rule to deduct us another 10 points! Poor things, Gibson will be giving them a right ear bashing!

On the Gibson front, I read online today that the Boro and Reading claims are now £45M and £6M respectively. Hugely different sums to the ones posted by the Admins a few weeks ago when they told us they had received "bills" from the 2 for £6M from Boro and either £1M or £2M from Reading. No idea where these inflated claims have come from or if it's even accurate.

    They can both do one.

Reading are making a claim too? Bloody ironic given that they have been docked points for FFP abuse as well. Still, keep the coming, you can't get blood out of a stone, and anyway we can get QPR to pay them, applying the same principal

Yeah but, no but, yeah but...the difference apparently is that QPR’s ‘cheating’ was successful so they became exempt from punishment.
    Quite bewildering to me.

I saw weeks ago boro were claiming 45m and Wycombe 6m, didn't see anything about Reading, what did we fraud them out of? Like I said then should we be looking at sueing villa if they come back after they beat us in the final after they over spent or how about Bournemouth when Eddie Howe got them promoted after over spending

Using Gibsons logic then any team that didn't make the top 6 should ask the ELF to investigate the top 6s spending

I can't see Will Ferrell bailing us out of this one (seasonal joke for the year)

Well cast your bewilderment aside because they didn't escape punishment, though they did get the fine reduced significantly. Not sure why a pts deduction wasn't applied but hey ho who said the EFL were consistent? Or maybe Derby couldn't pay any fine?

An arbitral panel on the 19 October 2017 dismissed Queens Park Rangers (‘QPR’) claim that the English Football League’s 2012 Financial Fair Play Rules (‘FFP Rules’) were unlawful under Competition Law and also found that the fine of £41.965m for failing to comply with the Rules was not disproportionate.

QPR lodged an appeal against the decision and the appeal was due to be heard in London on the 2 July 2018 before a new panel.

Following extensive discussions between the parties, the Appeal has been withdrawn and the dispute settled on the following terms:

    A Fine of £17.0m
QPR to pay the EFL’s costs of £3.0m
A transfer embargo in the 2019 January Transfer Window
The Club’s shareholders will capitalise £21.965m of outstanding loans.
