ot - Best top 10 films

Watched El Cid today - and its one of my favourite films - and got me thinking about my 10 favourite films

    Top 10.

    Sound of Music.
Simply the best film ever made. Cast, music, story - everything lined up in that film.

    Educating Rita.
    I lived that live.

    Twelve Angry Men.

    On the Waterfront.

    Shane.

    El Cid.
Honour and telling the truth even in adversity.

    Blade Runner.
    A masterpiece.

    Star Wars (original)
    Game changer.

    A Quiet Man.
My Irish connection and my grandfather’s favourite film.

    Bridges of Madison County.

I haven’t put Kes in there - because although I had a loving and fabulous childhood - I find the film too heart rendering to watch.

Quality that. My appreciation of classical music came from watching this film as a young man.

Good, Bad & Ugly soundtrack is unreal. Ennio Morricones work. 'The ecstasy of gold' when Tuco is running around the cemetery is wonderful. The shootout scene at the end is arguably the greatest scene ever shot in cinematic history imo.

I can’t think of 10 but some that spring to mind are the first Beverley hills cop, midnight run (if you’ve not seen this you’ve got to watch it!), ferris buellers day off, coming to America, trading places

    The Usual suspects

    West Side Story (original)

    Magnificent 7

Close encounters of the third kind

    Great escape

    Bridge on the river Kwai

    39 steps (Kenneth More)

    North by north west

    Life of Brian

Any of the Bourne trilogy (shows Bond producers how it should be done)

Coming to America is brilliant comedy. Gotta love Eddie Murphy. 48hrs is another good Eddie Murphy film with a fair bit of humour chucked in.

Never seen Midnight Run Renno but I'll keep a look out for it on Netflix mate
