    Dover is off

Just been called off by ref as he arrived at the ground. Confirmed on Notts tw@tter. Ridiculously late postponement once again. Feel for our fans that travelled.

    Dover Postponed

    Dover Postponed!

    From Notts' Twitter...

"Despite receiving no warning whatsoever of a pitch inspection or the match being in doubt, the referee has arrived at the stadium and called the game off - stating the pitch is totally unplayable.

We can only apologise to supporters who have made another wasted journey."

Unbelievable... except in this badly-run league it isn't!

If the pitch is 'totally unplayable' then it is highly unlikely to have deteriorated to that state in the space of the last two hours.

Whether it's down to Dover not forewarning the officials, or lazy officials not being bothered to get down there and conduct an earlier inspection, it shows a complete disregard for travelling fans making such a long journey. King's Lynn was bad enough, but this is scandalous.

A shameful reflection on the National League.

Not sure whether to blame the league or the actual clubs involved. Not sure what the league can do when the club itself doesn’t have the good sense to inspect the pitch more than a couple of hours before kick off.

I’m 200+ miles from Dover and even I know it’s been pissing down there for hours.
