I just base my belief on science and logic.
Everything in nature is there for a reason, there is a food chain. The strong eat the weak. We are just another part of nature, we are a weak animal but nature gave us a bigger brain than others. That guaranteed our survival in a cruel world.
But we are newcomers to the planet, dinosaurs were here for 140 million years and the earth was billions of years old then.
Man's arrogance makes us believe we are different from other forms of life, we aren't, we are just another species of Ape.
What happens to all the animals that die? Do they get another go?
Logically everything is here for a purpose. Sitting around for ever in a nice garden isn't logical.
One thing that I wouldn't rule out however is reincarnation, everything is recycled, even the star's, so there is no reason to believe that we won't be recycled as well. But we won't come back as us, we could come back as another form of life.
When we are gone we are gone.

Totally agree Des 100%. Are there too many people on the planet and many are living a lot longer - too long! Is this natures way of reducing the headcount? Should not be mocked!

I do believe too - when your gone your gone and many like to keep the romance going of some kind of after life!

As Hugill been reincarnated and come back as a donkey? You never know! Diangana too could have come back as a bird as he’s feather light 😭

We certainly have evolved along side all other life forms on the planet. We adapted because evidence indicates our brain improved due to our ability to control fire and cook other animals that didn't eat us.
So evolution is a tough task master, no question and many don't make it. Dinosaurs is a good reference you make.

That we (humans) have total control across the planet...is an indication that we are different. We have evolved out of the animal kingdom and are still evolving.
But we are not finished. The use of our mind is what drives us far in advance of any other species. Now comes (for many) the tricky part. Sustaining humanity in a responsible position on the planet. If you look around you will see many humans still acting like lower animal order that we came from. Not good.

But evolution isn't finished and never does...but if you don't adapt to her changes your dropped out.
A global cull is coming. What you deeply believe will have a big part to play in the next stage.

I agree with you Dubbs, and I think technology is the global cull - young people don't mix & socialise so how will they find partners and raise families. We're fast approaching a world where most of what you need comes delivered to your door, robots will be a feature in the home and the need for humans will diminish beyond technological developments.

Youngsters are losing the ability to form normal relationships.

I’m staggered at the behaviour of some of my own family in this regard.

They refuse to accept the “boyfriend/girlfriend” tag a lot of the time and prefer to be “friends”.

More alarming is the “friends with benefits” culture that is now occurring, a fear of commitment and just a s h a g when needed but then “mental issues” in regards to their “sh it life” in the aftermath.

The internet and dating Apps have a lot to answer for.

Young blokes increasingly look at strong p o r n and if the girl they’re with doesn’t take it up the a r s e on the first date she’s “frigid”.

The r a p e culture amongst 15-30 odd year old men is now rife as well.

If I end up on my own at any point I won’t be looking out for another partner, I’ve had the best so anyone else wouldn’t match up anyway.

But the youth of today are in a real mess.

Robot's won't just be a feature they will be the future. Humans will become part machine bit by bit until we become totally machine. The days of the bionic man and terminator are coming.
When that happens we will be close to immortality, what some people have always yearned for.
We will be programmed to do various jobs, and be able to travel for eons in space.
Governments will have total control of populations, something they have always craved. Free thinking will be the preserve of the elite. If people think Nazi Germany was bad the future is far more scary.
    Glad I won't be around.

I won't be looking for another partner either if the worst happened. I am 67 this year.
    I'm not Des O Connor.😉

Imagine being close to immortality, who the hell wants to live forever except perhaps the odd rampant narcissist. Villa still wouldn't win the FA Cup

At least Villa are entertaining to watch! Corrie with Ken Roach are more entertaining than our bunch of pub players

Back to the original topic, yes women do tend to live longer than men, but I think the age difference has narrowed. I have two mates who both lost their wives in the last two years.
When I worked on the council and had to work in the cemeteries men on the stones died in their thirties, forties, and fifties, very few reached retiring age, while their wives lasted until their eighties.
Jobs were much heavier and more dangerous back then and industrial diseases got quite a few.
