The club statement was short and sweet something is definitely amiss.
Woods has gone to the toon now and it’s done but my first thought was his heartfelt thanks and what a ride it’s been , but not a mention of it just how thankful he is to play at at James park.
Now don’t get me wrong It’s gone but you don’t have to think that far back to how he loves it here and the team and togetherness is special at Burnley.
Something has gone horribly wrong at the turf with Sean or directors - or both were in it up to our necks and sinking fast.
The club statement was short and sweet something is definitely amiss.
I remember Wood when he played for the Lions, we offered £1 million for him but were beaten by Leeds but I think you guys have had him for the golden years of his career, so to get £25 Million is really a good deal, also he will go where his Father directs him, found that out when he was down the Den. But I am sure you guys can find an excellent striker for that amount of dosh.
Problem is Claw, we might have the money, but our recruitment team have no idea who's out there, they never imagined we'd be losing Wood, and they're not that competent at the best of times.
Another problem, even if they could locate a decent striker, why would he want to sign for a club heading into the Championship at a rate of knots ? Rats tend to jump off sinking ships, not onto them.
He does mention us on the BBC website

Don't worry Claw,we'll be down at the den next season taking the knee.😁
That’s football. Players move on and why not? I changed employer several times during my career to better my prospects. In the end, like everyone, he has to think of his family and what is best for them.
I remember Dean Marney in tears after his final match when his contract was not renewed. BFC has seen players come and go. There will be others.
The only 'constant' at any club is the fans and I notice that our 20000+ gates have been decreasing at a rate of knots and will more than likely be back to our core figure of around 11000 if we are relegated.
I don't knock any player for getting whatever money they can out of the game because it is a relatively short career. Chris Wood's agent has obviously not made much money out of him for the past few seasons and he saw an opportunity to get his client more money, whilst he himself can just sit back and take even more money out of the game. Modern football at the top level aided and abetted by the media coverage. Don't blame players for taking advantage of the system.
Chris Wood will once again score enough goals this season to take him into double figures for the 5th season in a row in the PL.
