Slightly different slant on todays matches (well, one match in particular). Citeh vs Chelski......

Been called a xenophobe in the past for my views on who (and where), LUFC should be scouting for newcomers, and probably get the same for this, but wtf?

Of the 22 players starting the match, only 5 (at best and going on the basis of surnames (can't be ar5ed to check)) were from "home" nations, and not a single Chelski player hails from these shores.

How can that be right? How can supporters of either team, particularly Chelski, see those players as anything other than (very highly paid) "employees", who have little or no connection (or loyalty) to the club they play for?

LUFC have (at the moment), around 50% of players from one or other of the "home" nations, but for how long? And what do folks think of the prospect of a time when no LUFC shirt will bear the name of an Englishman, never mind a Yorkshireman?

LUFC isn't just a football club, it's not just a name. It has been, and can be again, a force of nature. That force of nature has a life blood, and it springs from the place where the club was born, and it can, must be, rejuvenated by those who have roots in that place. Others can help, that's for sure, but if we go down the route that the likes of Scum, Citeh, Chelski etc have trodden, we become nothing more, nothing better, diminished and nondescript. Not for me.

Been saying that from the start of commenting on this forum. How can people barrack for teams when you cant even spot an Englishman. Hence why England can't win a tournament.

    Seriously WTF ?
You are not a well person - That comment makes me uncomfortable, maybe you don't realise the impact of your words, sadly your few chummy-friends will probably agree.

Oz mate, Leeds Utd have a proud history of players from outside England.
Northern Ireland, Ireland, Scotland, Wales & players from all continents have been welcomed to ER, mate & always will be.

Not sure WTF was denouncing that they are a different race, Totty...but moreso not being able to grow the game more locally...with homegrown players. Can't argue with that as it is a crying shame that more arent showing in the top league. Is that what England wants long term?

Must admit that it’s far more satisfying to watch home-grown players (very, very local if possible!) represent us, but football has become more global. We have been extremely blessed with some of the overseas players we’ve attracted over the years.

All about balance I guess, but the logical tipping point has shifted in recent times too.

    Tricky.

I think there’s only a problem for those who want to see or make a problem.

That's one thing I'm proud of with Leeds so far mostly local players. When I Mean no Englishman I also include the British continent. Sorry, you misinterpreted WTF comments as he more or less says what my thoughts are and i don;lt see any malice in the post.

Do you see many European players playing in Africa and South America? Might explain why they keep producing and are a force in world football.
