I bought a house last year that had been used for growing weed in the loft space. One of the first things I do is get the sparky to check the wiring. He found a extension lead with a 13 amp plug on the end. When he traced it back they had hot wired it str from the main electric side of the meter. The plug was not the female end of the extension but the male end. The bit you normally plug in

There was a house in Tinsley that was completely demolished by gas explosion a few years ago. It was rumoured that it was meter tampering that caused it.
