Posted by CCU on t'other Board today in response to your post Griff:

"The campaign is a ‘call to arms’. Wild speculation about scenarios featuring Mods is bordering on obsession. If, and that’s a big if, any Mod decided to stand in time, I’m sure they would make a sensible decision regarding involvement in this Forum when it was needed…"

We'll just keep a copy of that post on here for the more obsessive amongst us.

It appears that not all the Moderators on t'other Board meet the job criteria, so hopefully Unita Fortior have other candidates in mind with the requisite qualities (integrity, accountability, vision and honesty) to represent them when they begin to suggest candidates for the CUOSC Board.

Early days but presumably nothing to stop them suggesting a few possible candidates now. After all if those candidates have the necessary attributes (and maybe a bit of charisma) it could prove a huge boost to the recruitment drive.

This 'unita fortior' organisation is yet to gestate into being. Even at this stage there is an issue. Why call it something in Latin as though it is an ancient and formidable army regiment or town with a noble history. This is a pompous thing to do. If it was called 'stronger united' that would be much better.

In the event of this developing a lot further it would not be a good idea for anyone to have a 'cabinet' role in two organisation of supporters, such as being a message board moderator and concurrently being part of the management of any other Carlisle United related organisation.

100 have signed up apparently. Not a lot but it’s a start and as only 40 of the original membership used to vote, this increase could be significant. More needed though.

It is only an issue if you make it one!

I think the aim must be to get 100 + new members but at the same time get a large part of the currently non active members to do something. It is not 2 organisations -it is about one effective organisation. UF must have a strategy which I would say is first to have a robust revision of the the Trust procedures and then a vote to elect the represantatives to sit on the CUFC board, with a clear mandate from the members.

Even now the CUOSC board members will be working on a means of making an increased membership incapable of changing the cosy environment enjoyed by the current 'powers that be'. The board membership and their best mates turn up to vote at agms and all is serene.
CUOSC does not want an increased membership. Imagine yourself as one of their 'powers that be'. You are in a situation in which you and your mates feel as though they collectively own 25.4% of Holdings which owns 93% of 1921. At a CUOSC AGM in order to pass a motion supported by you and your mates you need only persuade a few of the attendees of the merit of such motions, given that probably only 40 will vote, including the board and their mates.
If an enlarged and democratic membership occurred you lose that feeling of you and your mates controlling 25.4% of Holdings. If there was such an increased membership that played an active part in CUOSC everyone would feel as though they owned a small part of Holdings, thus severely diluting the feeling of ownership / importance of the current 'powers that be'.
Just as there is work going on in Downing Street to prevent Boris Johnson facing the inevitable consequences of his sins there is work going on in CUOSC to prevent a dilution of that pompous feeling of importance held by the current 'powers that be'.
