    Chris Wood

I know we were desperate for a striker buy last 2 games he has been poor.. 4 goals all season..

If we don't sign another striker it's a travesty..

I'm not slating the lad really as his price was inflated due to the clause but he just isn't the answer.. hold up play was poor today and he just isn't the presence he once was for Burnley couple seasons ago

He seems to be a bit lost up front for us if we can get Zapata in hopefully playing together will help Wood.

The price we paid is not his fault. We took it upon ourselves to pay his release clause, which is surely more than we were looking to fork out initially.

It is easy to see the threat he can pose if we play more direct. But I'm glad we are not just "going long". He needs someone else alongside him to be effective. He'll score with the right supply.

He looks a bit lost now but keep faith - he'll come up with big goals.

We do need to sign another striker though.

Is Dwight Gayle still at Newcastle United? If he is, why? And if a reason is given, why doesn't he EVER play?

Whenever we played Burnley and he was in the team,I was worried the whole match, he was a threat, hopefully we will see that again once he settles in, and we play to his strengths.

Wood seems like a clever necessity purchase to me.

The lad is not up to scratch, we needed a focal point up front because we dont have a striker and it weakened a relegation rival.

There is no way he was on the list of targets, circumstances of our desperation got him in

Totally - for me, it’s savvy buys and loans in this window if we can. Yes this one was overpriced but I think the Trippier deal was a good one for us and the player. Let’s hope we are pleasantly surprised by incoming in the next week and a half or so.

Wood is a handful, and true pain to play against. Almost every attack we created, was created in the space that Wood created.

If we had more lethal wide attackers today, we would have scored a few.

Wood won 15 aerial duels against Leeds. Thats a record in a premier League match this season.
