West Greenwich Road Closures - Consultation Deadline 18th February 2022

    Dear Millwall Fans

In 2020 I posted a petition on here against the closure of the Hills and Vales roads in West Greenwich which is affecting the freedom of movement of local people trying to get home and driving about our area including carers, people with disabilities/long term health conditions etc.
To date over 1,550 have signed to scrap the scheme so thanks to anyone on here who supported the petition. Thanks also to Claw84 for your support back then.

The local council, Royal Borough of Greenwich, have launched a consultation on the scheme and anyone can complete it even if you do not live in West Greenwich. Please can you OBJECT to the scheme and complete the consultation using the link below. The scheme favours wealthy and privileged streets at the expense of people who are less well off and live in social housing on the busy boundary roads. It has led to increased traffic and congestion throughout East Greenwich, Woolwich Road, Trafalgar Road, Blackheath Hill and Charlton.

I know many Millwall fans live in West Greenwich including some of my neighbours who have objected. Driving to the Den or the Valley on a match day is likely to take far longer from West Greenwich due to the increased traffic on Blackheath Hill or through Greenwich Town as more traffic is forced onto the main roads while the Hills and Vales enclave is closed off except for their own privileged residents.

It does seem there is one rule for the wealthier who live in the Hills and Vales streets and can dictate who uses them and another for the less well off who need to use our local streets to get about for shopping etc. and longer distances.

Please oppose the scheme and OBJECT. The deadline for the consultation is noon on 18th February 2022.

    Many thanks for your support.

    Valley (Charlton Mad)
