This can happen but often it is because the opposition stops you playing your best game, pundits say Everton were dire against us through the week but they trounced Leeds yesterday making me believe we made them look bad.

Cheers to the Villa lads-not easy to coome on after a defeat. For what it's worth, when you 'scored' we felt it had been coming and that it wouldn't have been unjustified.

    Love VAR, though.

Out of interest, was it the right decision? Ditto the pen that was changed to a free kick?

Both were hairline decisions and both were correct.

The Villa off side couldn't have been closer and without VAR we would have had a draw. The pen decision was a bit clearer.

I'm surprised to see you back so soon Zip. I thought you would have been knocking a few back in celebration.

Maybe the Villa fan who let off a smoke bpmb to celebrate could claim his money back from the linesman (yes, I know they're not called that any more )

Wasn't the offside incorrect though due to a deflection before it reached Ollie Watkins?

Rules have changed back again, a deflection off a defending player no longer makes an offside attacking player magically onside, iirc they changed it back to what it had been previously after it happened to one of the "big" clubs... fancy that eh

Fair enough - cheers for clearing that up.

I think the offside was harsh. It was my understanding that they weren't meant to be ruling out this sort of hair's breadth offside goal. I'm glad they did, obviously, and it puts right one of the myriad terrible decisions given against us so far this season, but I'd be angry if that same decision went against us.

I think Villa didn't look at the races really. I know what Sherwood is getting at, but I also didn't think we were at our best either. I think we'd have offered more if we didn't have so many injuries, particularly because that limited the changes we could make to affect the game.

For the Villa boys - how do you feel Gerrard is doing? He seemed to start really well, but is now saying he's worried about being sucked into the relegation scrap. Meanwhile, a certain Norwich manager is doing his best to unrelegate a doomed team!
