I have no love for the Russians, I just look at things from a neutral point of view.
I don't get caught up in the hysteria that has plagued the human race since long before the Crusades.
A reasoned view indeed ..... but
It’s ok for us to take the moral high ground having the luxury to sit back and observe from afar and discuss in a civilised intellectual manner, a neutral point of view as you say.
Problem is how exactly do we stop someone like Putin, or Hitler. Debating? negotiating?, praying? submission?
As the saying goes, evil only prospers when good men just sit by and let it happen.
Putin is no more than a mafia gangster who sees appeasement as weakness.
The world has a real problem here make no mistake. Why and how we got here is can be debated and there are many reasons on both sides.
But hoping it will go away, taking a neutral stance, edging ones bets is the option for opportunists.
    Problems need action.

The only strategy he needs to adopt now is to keep looking over his shoulder. Et, Tu, Brute springs to mind!

Exit strategy? I suggest he starts by taking his head out of his arse. He underestimated Ukrainian resolve, their post 2014 reorganisation and the western response while overestimating himself and those under his command.

This is what happens when an over inflated ego is fed out of date intelligence. An arrogant pillock......with chemical weapons, a nuclear arsenal at his disposal and a humiliating experience of his own making.......a dangerous arrogant pillock.

I remember you raising the point about him being rebuffed from NATO membership. Well there are reasons for children not liking bullies and hens not inviting foxes into their pens.

If he were invited to a party in your home he'd most likely stuff himself on your food and drink before sh itt ing in your kitchen sink. Simply because he could. And this bloke's sh it really stinks........as exampled every time he opens that gob of his.

Disent with the war seems to beestablishi g on the ground
Read recently that the mothers are getting annoyed with the information on their dead children.
Ukraine has thousands of bodies in cold storage waiting to be collected by the Russians, who are refusing to ingage with them.

And now a top military analyst on prime time TV has pretty much rubbished the current narrative put out by the Kremlin....

Indeed, a rather extraordinary debate to be allowed on Russian state TV. I think Steve Rosenberg is dead right in that there must be something going on behind the scenes for the Kremlin to allow such views to be aired. Hopefully the beginning of the end for Putin and his "special operation" -but the world will surely also demand enormous reparations from Russia to help rebuild Ukraine if it is.

All the frozen assets should be liquidated to pay for the rebuild of Ukraine. The US are already passing this through Congress!

Disillusioned Russian soldiers incensed with their elitist leaders mutinied and kick-started the revolution. Could happen again, lots of reports that some units are refusing to fight.

Breakup of the USSR has been said by some to down to three factors. 1 Mothers demonstrating about losing their sons in an unnecessary war -Afghanistan, 2 Economy faltering, high inflation and shortages, 3 Kremlin leadership consisting of Hard-line geriatrics with outdated views

Let’s hope history repeats itself; we may get a breather for now until they spawn another Ivan the terrible, Stalin or Putin etc

" The territory of the Azovstal metallurgical plant has been completely liberated," says Russia.
It would be humourous if it were not so tragic.

Well nothing like a softly softly approach to liberation.

All these occupied areas need to be taken back but there’s no way will Putin do this! Therefore the screw needs to be turned even harder on Russia and also start to sanction those who are buying their cheap oil ie India and China. All frozen assets should be liquidated for the rebuild of Ukraine!
