Relegation is almost a certainy now

and the most gawling people are falling over themselves to buy Chelsea. I remember the early 70's Chelsea couldn't compete with Derby in that era either financially or on the pitch

Spot on eddy...but that is where I can’t help feeling it was a case of Steve Gibson/Boro...mission accomplished!
Those involved made sure that nothing was resolved, as far as that massive Middlesbrough claim was concerned, until after the closure of the window which in turn led to the loss of Shinnie and Jagielka and, as you say, our inability to strengthen.
Sure it was all ‘hearts and flowers’ afterwards - well sort of - but by then it was too late, and they knew it.

What has been really disappointing, imo, has been the total failure of Quantuma, or any of the alleged suitors, to make any apparent progress whatsoever since Gibson dropped his ridiculous case.

Agreed, I also question whether the Boro case has been settled? Was it just a ruse to avoid trouble at the match? Whatever the situation is now completely puzzling and I have a feeling that we are heading for league 1 and a 15pts deduction.

I hope so, but I'm basing my view on a bid will be made that is better than liquidation but not enough to meet the EFL rules! But of course, if the preferred creditors don't accept then its game over.

Just wish the whole saga was settled and we all knew what was happening.

Looking increasingly like that is our best hope.

Article from the Black and White Together group seems to agree with what my thoughts have been. Namely that to avoid the 15 point penalty for not reaching the 100%/25% threshold we need, with the agreement of the creditors, roughly £30M to get out of debt. Then there's another £20M on top for the ground making roughly £50M in total.

If nothing happens between now and the summer we'll be worth way less than we are now, £5M tops maybe? No way we can avoid -15 at that price.

It makes sense for prospective buyers to wait but not for the fans and certainly not for the club as we'll lose half the squad this summer for nowt. Worrying times indeed.
