I haven't been to South America at all, but my daughter tells me there's lots of beans.

Mind you, I do have a photo of her eating guinea pig ( but not in Brazil)

The greenfern baker closed earlier this year, I didn't think their stuff was good though JG Ross has taken over the shop now, closing their existing Mastrick shop.
Frightening how much bakers have closed in the city over past 30 years or so.

The Gordon Bakery does ring a bell. They had a shop in Kincorth too. Keep thinking of the excellent Gordon Cafe on King Street, who baked lovely stuff too. That place is a miss.

A know the guy that came up with them whilst working for Murdoch's. He has his own bakery now out in the sticks and knowing him he probably still makes them. Can't remember where his bakery is, used to be Inverurie, but sold up and went further north. I'll find out.

Duncan's as well. Tattie and bean pie for my dinner from the New Market shop nearly every Saturday when I was a kid.

I cannot speak for the bakers you list but I do know that retail bakers don't do hygiene too well in my experience.
Butchers oddly, seem to have adapted better though there are always the exceptions.

I suppose flour and liquids are a baker's nemesis.
They can set hard quite quickly.

    Hygiene?
Ok up to a point, no one wants a cockroach in their pie.
But hygiene inspectors would be happy if nothing ever had any taste as long as the flour and floor were bleached properly.

As a country, we deserve supermarket bakeries.
