    Swansea v Birmingham

After the late goal by Piroe salvaged the win and gave the Swans all 3 points at Peterborough, we move on to our second match in three days.
We’re home and Birmingham are the visitors. Fresh from their second successive home defeat, the latest last Tuesday, 0-2 against Middlesborough, Manager Lee Bowyer will be planning for them to bounce back against the inconsistent Swans.
Key player Manning serves the third of his four match ban as we look for the win to take us into the two week International break.
The reverse fixture saw us lose 2-1 earlier in the season with Troy Deeney scoring his first goal in almost 10 hours of football and then setting up sub Riley McGree for the late winner.

Manning serving 4 match ban. Downes injured. Paterson injured in the pre-match warm up.
Three key players missing and it showed.
Birmingham deserved to win, we were sluggish after two long away trips and lucky to get the draw after Birmingham missed several chances with their fast wingers opening us up easily.
A two week break coming up before the big derby game with Cardiff, I hope we use the time well.

What a shambles that was, Birmingham could and should have scored five goals.
We are playing like a relegation side. Our three man defence is not working, our wing backs are not covering our slow centre-backs who are playing as full-backs. Their wingers had a field day, and Chong exposing Burns lack of pace, and who had no help from Christie, so much so he was subbed at half-time.
As soon as I saw Paterson, our only creative midfielder, had pulled out with a warm-up injury before the match, I knew that we’d struggle to score.

Were the players tired after the third game in seven days? Long away trips by coach to Blackpool then Peterborough, Martin says 21 hours on the road. He may have a point, they got home at 3am on Thursday, then played again 48 hours later. Birmingham had a relatively short journey to play us and had the extra day recovery after a home game on the Tuesday.
Some fans claim that our players are already ‘on the beach’ and boos were heard a the end of the match.
Maybe he should have rested players and utilised the squad more, but wait a minute the squad is down to the bare bones already, with ten players moved out and five in. Plus key players missing, Manning was serving a 4 match ban, and Downes and Paterson injured.
So, some valid excuses there boys to think about.
