    Swansea v Derby

Next up it’s a home match against Derby County. With Reading winning last Tuesday it’s not looking good for the Rams after their points deduction has put them firmly in the relegation zone.
They’ve been through a lot recently but there was some good news yesterday for them. The clubs administrators have accepted a bid from American businessman Chris Kirchner to buy the club. You have to admire their loyal fans with all the clubs troubles, including a player transfer ban, that their average gate this season is still over 22k.
The reverse fixture saw us play out a 0-0 draw, and Rooney said after the match “I thought we did really well second half - we didn't create too many clear-cut chances, but probably had the better chances.
Martin commented after the match “I am really frustrated. We deserved to win. We had ten shots inside their box, it needs to come to more.”
Derby are not in good form away from home recently with seven straight defeats.
Swans are inconsistent at home and results are not good when they have to play three matches in a week. They’ve been in excellent away form the last two matches though and can hopefully produce the goods on Saturday, even with a short recovery time between matches.
Derby were without a mid-week match this week so will have had plenty of time to prepare for this one.

It’s been a frustrating 3 weeks with the International break, then two away matches and being unable to watch the action.
Sky Sports blanked us last Saturday for the Cardiff game and SwansTV were unable to show the match in the UK due to EFL rules.
On Tuesday at Millwall it was a repeat scenario and the only way to catch up was on the radio.
So this Saturday it’s going to be nice to see some live football.

Despite the refereeing decisions we won this game against a desperate Derby fighting for their lives.
The blatant hand ball by Davies arm outstretched in the penalty area to block Wolf’s shot, penalty.
The impeding of Paterson by goalkeeper Allsop when beaten outside his area, one on one, should have been a free kick and sending off.
This would have changed the game our way, instead they get a penalty the other end and it spurred Derby on.
However in the end we got the three points we deserved and we move on.
Three wins in a week and 8 points from the play-offs, 6 games left, 4 at home, so close, not impossible, but realistically just out of reach.
Let’s keep on winning and see where it takes us.

Derby papers are full of how they should have had a penalty at the end of the match.
I agree with you jackaway, we were the aggrieved party not Derby.
Conveniently forgotten was the unmissable hand-ball earlier by Curtis Davies in the penalty area and the blocking of Paterson when through on goal by goalkeeper Ryan Allsop who was way out of his area, which should have been a free-kick and a sending off. Both incidents would have turned the match even more in our favour but the ref took the cowardly option and waved play on.
And what about Rooney abusing the fourth official at the end, shouting right in his face and waving his arms, not acceptable and he should be fined.

We haven’t had one penalty awarded to us this season which is an unusual statistic don’t you think. The standard of refereeing in the Championship is poor in my opinion. VAR is complained about a lot in the PL but I would welcome it, at least it would negate the poor decision making of referees in this division.

For Rooney’s claims of a penalty, he must have good eyesight. I was closer than him to the incident and it looked as if both Cabango and sub Cybulski were holding on to each other, so it was 50/50 for me in a crowded penalty area.
