They'll be dancing in the streets of Stoke at this news.

As well as all those w'ankers in the north of england who voted tory to escape from foreign rule.

That's your electorate, that's your democracy, now do your job or f'uck off.

Nah, I've read that a few times now and it's 100% true.

Do civil servants not have a duty to the public, when crackpot ministers dream up psychotic policies that avoid parliamentary scrutiny, are more than likely unlawful & are a massive burden on the taxpayer?

Right we all know how donsdaft would’ve reacted in 1930s Germany, anyone else?

Oh, there was no democratic support for it either. It wasn’t in their manifesto & it wasn’t voted for in parliament. What you’re saying is that you’re happy in a dictatorship.

Yet you claim to hate tories. Righto

There's no doubt this will carry populist support amongst yer Brexit/UKIP types.

Indeed, a cynic might suggest this is a red meat policy to try to distract "the base" from some other difficulties.

Away on the wrong tact again Mason min.

Civil servants are paid with taxpayer money to implement the elected representative's instructions.

Edit: A bloody good reason not to be a civil servant.

But they also need to advise on wee things like legality and costings.

My understanding is that civil servants said to Priti Vacant "This contravenes international law and will be hugely non-cost-effective, so dinna be so fu cking stupid".

So Vacant says "Nae geein' a fu ck about laws and cost, it's what the knuckle draggers that vote for us want. Here's a ministerial directive. Crack on.".

I'm guessing that's close to word for word what went on.
