I agree, Lifelong, it has been a rubbish 15 months and nothing excites me for next season with the management setup we currently have. No light at the end of the tunnel.

I am afraid Silver the light at the end of the tunnel as been switched off Idont think the appointment off Copps is a good one we would have been better fetching an outsider in and starting afresh I think the club as gone back 20 years I was a fan of Gavin but iam beginning to think he is a bit off a con man there is nobody on the board who knows any thing about football not like the days of JR and you’ve got to worry about next season RTID

John Ryan brought passion for football to the club. He brought in Dick Watson who also had a passion for football, and Terry Bramall who is a businessman. Within 6 years we went from the Conference to the Championship and we saw our best ever days. Combined, the 3 men had considerable financial clout.

Regrettably, Ryan has departed and Watson passed away and all that support (both passion and financial) has all gone. We are left with only the businessman who doesn’t want to support the club financially to the extent of the 3 previous owners. He wants the club to be financially self sufficient (which effectively means he has to support the club as little as possible).

Money moves about in a complicated manner throughout Club Doncaster which makes it very difficult to trace how much each area is costing. Being a private company, the owners don’t have to disclose salaries and what the board takes out, although Bramall likes to make it obvious how much he puts back in. And being a private company the board are not answerable to anyone for their bad decisions.

The obvious cutbacks are clearly having a negative impact on the club as DRFC should never be in League Two if the budget is adequate and spent wisely. The board have admitted that Doncaster can’t compete with the high rollers in League One, so our budget probably is inadequate. And no doubt the budget contributed towards the reasons why good managers like Ferguson, McCann and Moore have all deserted us. It is undeniable that there are major issues within the club from the top to the bottom or we wouldn’t be where we are, so recruiting in-house can never be the answer. But that is the chosen path the board has taken. Until we have an experienced manager with a sufficient budget, and the freedom to spend it his way we will never return to the passionate Ryan days. Ferguson, McCann and Moore all had the ability to make us much better had the budget been there for them.
