Oldham Athletic, who were one of the 22 clubs in the inaugural Premier League in 1992/93, have been relegated from the EFL. How near we came in 1987 to that fate.

Teams like Oldham, Barnsley, Blackpool and Wigan gave me hope that we could make the Prem too.

A sad day for the fans of Oldham. However, like other clubs before, the fans will still be there, as long as the club exists.

I remember the day back in the 60’s when Accrington Stanley went bust. Look at the club now.

We nearly experienced the same fate!

Not a time for schadenfreude and I wish them all well, as long as they never, ever beat us.

Have a scroll through the non-league teams, it's amazing how many of them have previously played in the Football League.
