Totally agree, he dips in to dialect seemingly at will and in contrast its hard to listen to. If he wants to improve voice and word do one or the other - in his case "proper" but then maybe he just finds it hard not to when actually in Dundee.

My missus swears after meeting GB last year for a bender I turned into a "ken" for two months. In fact she claims she didn't know what that meant and certainly not peh, "harkes gave me a right fleg wi that keech pass", other words of confusion were "2nd exit at the circle", "that cundy is fvcked, swerve", "your no happy wi my behaviour last night but I was reekin' and canna mind, so gie me a skiffy", Jobby, "boat can I borrow another fehver mate?"

Which is weird as everyone knows on here GB wears a cravat, smoking jacket and is really from Ess3x so I can only presume Dundonians can go 20 years away with no hint of an accent and in 12 hours become monsters of the language without realising it

I'm 20 years in Japan now and quite easily slip back into Dundonian. It probably helps that there's not another dialect to influence me. The English I here is American, Aussie, Canadian, English although not all that often.

I saw him a while back on a show about the resurgence of Doric. He was speaking to a female from the river city and emphasising the importance of keeping the language going. He was conversing with her in Doric too. Not sure if he’s got any connection to that part of the world or not.

Sure one of the first Dode Fox Podcasts had him on and mentioned he has something to do with teaching Scots as a language up at one of the Unis in Aberdeen. Think he spent his childhood just outside Dundee, moved abroad then obviously returned a while back.

While i am quite passionate for keeping Dundonian, Doric and other versions of Scots alive, i think lucky white goes too far with it most of the time and would do better to tone it doon thon wee bit. Sounds better if it comes naturally and not forced like Ally puts it across.
