We seem to be a bit late appointing a Director of Football. Earlier this season I read an article with the Director of Football at Kelty Hearts who was 37 years old and he had been the Director of Football since Kelty Hearts were playing in the Lowland League.
So you miss out on klopp because he never saw the advert. Next best candidate is john Hughes?

Obviously I have made that gap bigger than it would be,but only to make the point.

Not sure where you are going with the director of football thing, Kelty hearts have had a director of football for more than three years... so have we,its just been nelms.

But because Kelty have one doesn't mean we need one. Some managers like them, some don't.

I didn't like ours before, now I am prepared to wait and see with the new one. But it won't be the first appointment I didn't like, and pretty sure it won't be the last

I think someone who helps with recruitment is a worthwhile new post for our club. We have had managers in charge and they seem to be reliant on pals or some online agency. Let's hope with a new manager and Gordon Strachan we actually get fit, big fast skillful players who fit into a strategy.
Agree that previous attempts to fill this type of post were underwhelming. Just have to hope that
John Nelms has time to devote to our commercial department and make improvements in the marketing.
Not sure that this message has got across to the club.

My worry is that by the time we appoint a new manager it will be too late to sign the necessary players for next season.

That's the Director of football's job surely? Identify players, negotiate contracts....could be the reason ross seems reluctant.

It's one of the reasons I'm not a big fan of the DOF, manager gets players he doesn't choose, then gets the blame when team doesn't win.

Unless we are talking mutley mcghee, then it's ABSOLUTELY his fault cos he is a diddy
