We apparently tracked Javier de Paul who only cost AM 30m, Olise who cost Palace £10m and Nandez who would cost about 15m to no avail.
Would rather have had wood as backup than James for the same price.
The squad is so much smaller than last season when you look at those who left or are out on loan - Costa, Casilla, Poveda, Alioski, Pablo, Berra and in terms of true first team players only two came in - James where we had depth. Those players also knew the system and each other as had been here a while.
No wonder we struggled - I still think there is a player in Firpo but given his experience at Barca and the uncertainty 16m for him was madness when you think what 16m could have bought for e seasoned LB from the EFL or prem - we could have got Robinson from
Fulham or Henry from Brentford for less or similar money.
If we stay up then fair play to the players and all the coaches - including the American Idiot - for putting up with hand cuffs the whole season.

Villa on top of Burnley but need them to score, don't want to start final day in bottom 3 and Burnley type of team to get a lucky 1-0 after being battered all game
