Joel, it's not just about who will come knocking, it's at least as much about what the players want. Look at Drameh, not satisfied with the game time he was being given, he made his own decision (at least his own as in advised by his agent!) to go to Cardiff, where has has done very nicely.

So for all those who have had a taste, if not more, of playing in the most influential league in the world, coming back to the Championship, and in some cases having to play second fiddle to those who failed to keep us up, will be a very unwelcome prospect, particularly when they will know that we got there because of a management team who couldn't (or wouldn't) see the brick wall at the end of this PL season and do something about it.

Meslier will be able to get a place in most of the lower order of the PL, the upper echelons of the Championship, and just about everywhere in the "senior" European leagues. He is young, talented (with flaws that he knows about and can work on) and I suspect very ambitious. LUFC in the Championship will be no place for such a player.

Same goes for Struijk and Gelhardt. They may need another season in the Championship, although in the case of Struijk I doubt it, but even if they did see that as beneficial to their development, will they see a Leeds in that league, the basket case we have become over just a few short months, with an owner bereft of his major external investor (the 49-ers will inject no further capital, take that to the bank) as being as ambitious as they will be individually, I think not.

Not being dour, just realistic, unlike those who occupy the ivory towers at ER.
