Neither could Mike Pollitt until Swales and McIntosh got their act together.

With two strong in the air defenders in front of you there should be very few situations where the keeper is required to “ flap” or not

Pollitt had height something to work on. Victor hasn't.

What a load of shi te you spout Peter Shilton and Ray Clemence 2 of the greatest keepers England have produced were both only 6ft tall or were they rubbish too?
If we are on about defenders Reg who we had on loan and played in front of Viktor is one of the smallest defenders we’ve ever had but I bet he’d be in most rational peoples top 10 millers central defenders since say we moved to NYS

Personally I'm getting the feeling that gru is slowly morphing into or really is a previous poster who left us after we gained auto promotion. Always there throwing in the wind up snippets that get picked up on. Always on the negative, any bells ringing yet? Claims he knows all about horse racing but couldn't beat me at it for a week and I don't follow the gee gees.

Peter Shilton was good in the First Division but not always for England where his lack of height was a disadvantage, you saw this with the "hand of God" goal, Maradona was tiny and shouldn't have been able to palm the ball over Shilton, also that Paul Parker deflection and the game against West Germany in 1990 where he didn't get near any of the penalties. Dave Beasant would have probaly saved at least one of them.

I will chuck a few stats in

    L1 games only

    VJ
    Played 26
    Conceded 22
    Clean sheets 11

That is 1 goal every 1.1 game conceded on average

    JV
    Played 20
    Conceded 15
    Clean Sheets 14

1 goal conceded every 1.4 games on average

    As for corners;

We conceded an average of 3.74 corners a game which is the second-lowest in the league - Wigan were better.

I cannot find a stat for goals conceded from corners but only 1.27% of all corners lead directly to a goal.

I think these stats tell us 2 things:

1 - we have a 2 very good goal keepers, both with experience of being winners

2 - That conceding goals from corners isn't a massive concern.

I've heard it all now Beasant was better than Shilton !
What's this obsession with keepers being giants ?

Not sure that this goal was a 'height' issue, but the fact that the ball was directly above Maradonna's head and in his space whereas Shilton was diving towards the ball giving Maradonna the advantage, albeit only with the advantage of his arm! I don't think height would have made that much difference. Shilton mad ethe right call and would have connected if Maradonna hadn't cheated. Not very fair to blame his lack of height for this.

I'd be worried with Victor in goal in the championship I can't have a keeper who flaps at crosses. Brin re. Horseracing they were your rules Cheltenham 2021 didn't matter what price a winner it was odds on or odds against it was same value. Stupid to me that's like going in bookies saying doesn't matter about winner I've backed being odds against pay me price favourite was! Were was you this year at Cheltenham? Think I managed 6 winners this year.
