    Top-flight 2022/23

St Johnstone survived to confirm the line-up for next season. It's going to be a fascinating summer and campaign.

Everyone will feel they have the chance to kick on but equally everyone (other than Hearts) will be aware they're only a couple of bad decisions from being in a real fight for survival.

Hearts - by far the best of the rest but a proper Euro campaign will seriously muck with their squad. Favourites for third but probably not that consistent till post WC.

United - rotten and, as of now, their best player has just gone back to Man Utd.

Us - rotten and with gaps all over the place.

County - solid but needing an entire new attack/creative department without RCC, Hungbo and Spittal.

Livi - probably quietly confident of another solid season.

St Mirren - Robinson already under pressure, have lost a good gk and their best midfielder.

Aberdeen/Hibs - both ripping it up to start absolutely from scratch.

St Johnstone - finished well having been rotten but tipped to lose Clark, McCart Rooney and Hendry. Essentially starting from scratch.

Killie - good manager and will spend but patchy in a very weak Championship. Not far off starting again too.

I think it will be a more difficult league for us next season. Hearts will continue to do well and although they have European games to contend with they have additional money coming in for buying more good quality players. I cannot see Hibs and Aberdeen being as bad next season, and Killie will be better than Dundee. I see Ross County having a more difficult season and possibly United as well - I do not rate their manager (all talk) but they do produce good youngsters. St Johnstone have had a real fright, but is it enough to loosen the rubber band around the Brown family wallet? St Mirren - should be much the same next year and same for Livi. Unless we sign (as a minimum) a defensive leader at centre back, a creative midfielder and a goal scorer as a foil for KVV then we will probably be battling out out in the lower half.

The three positions mentioned for new signings are exactly right, but they are the positions most in demand from other teams, so it won't be easy.
