Carlos to Villa. I underestimated Gerrard.

So it looks like Diego Carlos is now going to Villa

They have already signed Coutinho and Kamara.

I massively underestimated the pull of playing for a guy like Gerrard. I don't want to disrespect Villa but they were not signing this type of player before Gerrard.

The transfer market is going to be crackers this year. So many teams will be spending big. Records will be broken.

Hopefully it will help us weed out the mercenaries.

Be interesting to see what type of player we've missed out on.

Botman was first choice but we made a few bids for him, didn't we? Seem to remember he was described as being good and potentially very good but with a propensity to wander out of position.

Fair play to Villa-they're building a team with attacking flair and getting their business done early.

Was reading-admittedly on Twitter-that we have medicals booked for next week. Can't wait for us to start bringing players in-exciting times!

Carlos is 30. Rather have Burn at a fraction than give in to Sevilla.

I think this transfer will come back to bite Villa in the arse. This is the lad i hoped we would not get in January.

He has a tendency to dive in to tackles and is prone to red cards, The Spanish and French leagues where he has played are much slower than the PL.

Put him in the PL and watch teams turn him inside out, high press fast paced sides will have a field day

Was thinking that - similar age to Burn & Schär and Sevilla messed us around big style in January. We’ll sign someone younger and much better value for money.

It’s risky one for them, he might hit the ground running and they’ll get two or three decent seasons out of him but could just as easily be a disaster and be stuck with someone the wrong side of 30 on big wages and little or no sell on value.

I'm less concerned that I would of been last season.

I have full trust in our manager and owners to get hte players we need.

Carlos was who we needed in Jan to try nad keep us up, Seville played hard-ball and we walked away, got Big Dan Burn and the rest is history.

Now we are safe, and we have older leaders who know the prem, it makes sense we're going to look at younger defenders - where Botman fits perfectly.

I remember when we were after Phil Babb, in the Keegan era, but he went to Liverpool instead. We ended up with Albert! Sometimes things are just meant to be, and I’m not bothered we missed out on Carlos.
