The opportunities Fatso missed out on

    through greed and stupidity.

I was just thinking of the changes made since the takeover and they seem immense but really they aren't because we compare them to what things were under Ashley instead of just an average normal owner.

Just think Fatso could have appointed Eddie Howe. The monies spent on the new incomers are less than on Joelinton. The proposed improvements to the training facilities could have been carried out annually out of income over Ashley's decade and a half to have put them along with the best in the country.

To sum up Ashley could have made himself appear as a saint or a here and wallowed in the glory instead of being remembered as a greedy, stupid idiot.

You’re right and the thing is this is not being wise after the event - we all knew what was needed for success and for him to make lots of money with little investment.
John Hall showed him the way but Ashley only knows how to make money by buying cheap and selling for a profit. He completely misunderstood the business of football, the region and, principally, the potential of Newcastle United.

It's not even like anyone can claim - well the new owners have the cash to do it.

Ashley easily could of, at any point of his tenure.

Agreed Jammy. He had much more free finance at his disposal than Sir John and Freddie had together. Properly invested it would have provided him with a much better return than he eventually made for himself.

When Ashley took over, there were not the finances in football like there are now, he could have made us massive.
He chose the wrong way many times over, his priority was that tatty jumble sale shop when in reality, the better we got, the bigger globally his crappy shop would have been known.

Even after the constant failures, the season we finished 5th was a prime example of where he could have invested and turned us into an established champions league side, that single summer window, he could have just gone for it, the hundreds of millions he would have received every season there after would have made him and us a dominant force

Despite his success, I believe all round he isn't a good businessman, merely a greedy, often lucky, irrational person of poor judgement. Shackled down by his bad habits and addictions of greed and insecurity

    Spot on.

He stuck with his business model despite the clear evidence it wasn't working because he's stupid, greedy and a gambler.
