Thank god Root and Silverwood are not in control anymore and that grown ups are now in charge.

and my panama. Treated myself to a visit to Slaters my favourite menswear shop and bought 'tailored fit' blazer and chinos for my new slimmer self. My daughter said it was trendy. I'll settle for her opinion.
Lord's is an occasion. Wife will do me a posh picnic and I'll take my own bottle of fizz. Only ground you can take your own alcohol but no flags, horns or fancy dress (and no I don't break that code.)
The Oval and I'll be in shorts and t shirt weather permitting.
Going well is't it.
Sobering comment from my mate last night.
We need bowler friendly conditions to bowl a side out cheaply but can you see England getting 150+ if it's bowler friendly.
We'll see.

Occasionally I choose to wear my sports jacket and cravat !
In my early employment days (1960s Midland Bank) we worked Saturday mornings and as a suit relaxation, gentlemen were permitted to wear sports jacket and cravat.

I know all about “style”,it was me advising blokes on what to wear during my very enjoyable six years working for Hepworth Menswear.
It’s just funny hearing blokes of our age talk about “slacks” FFS........this was the terminology of the old blokes who came in the shop when I was 17-23 years of age who were then 40 to 80 years of age.
We took the p I s s out of that word even then those of us in our ****s and 20’s as you must’ve been?
