    Ball boys/girls

Think it’s time to forget sentiment and get boys from the under 16’s/18’s, you see it at most grounds these days, they have a ball each and throw to player/keeper before retrieving ball that’s went out, they also know when to slow the game down, fed up watching our players waiting for the ball,
    Thoughts

there is a great deal of blatent cheating in football these days, including using ball boys to frustrate players.
just recently, United instructed their ball boys to frustrate the Rangers players at Tannadice, and in fact, removed some ball boys from behind the home goal.
a few of the ball boys received abuse from the Rangers fans during the game, and even comments from the Rangers players.
the tactics worked as yinited secured a draw.
i remember many years ago, watching the dees playing ST MIRREN at Love street, DUNDEE were losing 2-1 and ST MIRREN withdrew all of the ball boys , and DUNDEE players running behind the goal to retrieve the ball.
again the tactics worked, as DUNDEE lost the game.
personally, i think our club is too sporting, even at DENS we are faced from cheating from opposing sides, which is often ignored by linesmen and referees, maybe we should join in !

I’ve always thought as a team we’re soft when it comes to unsporting tactics, how many teams do you see surrounding the referee at fouls which saves there players a card

Agree. Also how come so many of our "fouls" attract yellow cards. we need to get a referee to teach us how to tackle robustly to slow the game down but not get booked for the effort.

Maybe it's because of the poor season we have just faced but it seemed to me that once you get behind in a game and lose momentum refs make things worse by picking on "soft fouls" committed by us as the losing team and letting away much more aggressive and physical fouls committed by the opposition.

hope we get a couple of bigger bullies for next season, would help if they could pass the ball too!

We have never been good at playing the ref, other teams we play seem to excel at it. We could do with someone at the club analysing the referees, work out which ref is more likely to book you for what.

If a ref is really strict on dissent, don't do it. If a ref is soft on tackles from behind,do that more. And steal as many yards as possible at free kicks and throw ins.

And of course, disregard all of that when gollum is the ref,its harder when the ref has not got a clue what he thinks is a foul

Several years ago I read an article which stated that the Scottish Football referee Steven McLean was employed full time by the SFA to go round all the SPFL clubs explaining the laws of the game to all the players in these clubs.
It is a pity that Steven McLean does not put into practice what he preaches.
Steven McLean was the referee who awarded Kilmarnock FC a penalty when their player Jordan Jones ‘dived’ in the Dundee FC penalty box to win a penalty.
This was Neil McCann’s final game in charge as Dundee FC manager before the was sacked by John Nelms who then appointed Jim McIntrye as our manager.
