The rail network boss is responsible for a lot more staff than the union boss.
Out of interest the fat cat chief executive of the SPFL received an annual salary £389k which is listed in their annual accounts for the year ending 31st May 2021 on the Companies House website despite the SPFL posting an annual loss of £15k

Train travel is for commuting, they ended commuting with covid.....it's over.

You are the person who highlighted the difference in salaries between a union boss and the boss of network rail.

This week Nippy has been shouting for the whole of the rail network including signalling to come under Scottish Government control.
However she fails to admit that her Scottish Government failed to do anything about the train drivers in Scotland failing to carry out overtime working throughout last year resulting in a reduced service on a Sunday or some routes being cancelled leaving the management of Abelio who held the Scotrail franchise at the time to negotiate with the rail union bosses on behalf of their union members.
Abelio must have been delighted when the Scottish Government took back the Scotrail franchise a year before the contract was due to come up for renewal.

Because unions are not essential to the running of a company, the company employs people not the unions.

Nobody is forced to work overtime but most people do it because it is a ‘nice wee earner’.
Some jobs also have built in overtime and/or weekend working but that is listed when the job is advertised.
