For the price of Harry Maguire (£80 million)

    Man-U could have signed/afforded:

    Trippier £12 million
    and
    Dan Burn £13 million
    and
    Targett £15 million
    and
    Botman £39 million

    Total £79 million

Ok so Botman hasn't signed yet but if Paolo Maldini rated him so highly and AC Milan the Italian Champions really wanted him, we can assume he's quality

I get the feeling people want to see us splash the cash so they can call us an oil club but it's not happening....we're not doing what Man City did after their takeover with Robinho / Adebayor / Tevez etc

The new owners are yet to break our transfer record actually (Big Joe - £40 mill in 2019)

Add Nick Pope to the equation and we have a full back 5 for a little more than Macquire cost, or for the same as Van Dijk.

And they say money talks. I suppose it does but it doesn't always talk sense.

Maguire was too much, but I reckon VVD was well worth it.

Agreed. I do have some sympathy for Maguire though, that club is rotten from top to bottom and has been since Fergie left

I'm not saying VVD wasn't worth it, but, he cost as much as our full back 5 yet he still has the world's most expensive keeper behind him and other multi million pound players around him. It merely highlights the great business we have done

Certainly, no disputing the great business.

Lets hope our 5 lads can reach the levels VVD has. That year when he was injured you saw the fine margins at the top level between winning cups and not.
