    Clowes Named Preferred Bidder

...with the intention to do the deal by close of business wednesday!

    Thoughts anyone?

Mine are: As mentioned by Swale, seems to keep his counsel (unlike CK). As a property professional, he will be relatively conservative and long-term-thinking in outlook, that may be good for DCFC. But completing by wednesday? Good luck fellahs, I hope you manage it! (and of course I have no idea whether they are already 99% through the legals, in which case I understand)

My guess the relevant parties have been working on this probably since the Friday he bought the ground(Friday before last), still there would have been lots to do but they're a bit further down the line than we think I should imagine. It just goes to show how quickly you can get something done when you really want something, MA has been procrastinating for months now while Appleby lingered in the shadows only to come out and say his takeover is 'down to the final strokes', well it couldn't have been could it because that comment was released well after the ground officially had already been sold.

My thoughts are/were - I'd have preferred MA but how long could we have waiting, Clowes comes along and BANG he gets the job done without fuss so for that reason he has my support, much work ahead in the next week mind you

This is like an F1 team searching for a chassis, an engine deal and 2 drivers two weeks before the season starts!

DCFC could always rope Nico Hulkenberg in,its the default F1 solution

I'm hoping it's more like Brawn when they were uncertain of starting the season then blew everyone away

The only downside of that would be if we suddenly pitched up with little Virgin sponsorship decals on our shirts and we become 'Branson's Derby' like Brawn did for a while.

It might very well be like that, no sponsors so the place will be sponsored by Clowes Developments, shirts, the ground
