The choice is now between the Forces For Good driving the Russians out of the Ukraine
or the people controlling those forces not wanting an escalation to, quite possibly,
worldwide nuclear war and thus not acting. A failure of the Forces For Good to act
would almost certainly result in Russia taking over the Ukraine and having further
ambitions.
In principle of course nearly everyone opposes tyranny but the consequences of practical
opposition may be worldwide nuclear war. There is a widely held belief that nuclear war
could result in the human race being entirely wiped out. But physicists largely believe
that this is not the case. Perhaps 5% of folk would survive, in places such as the Arctic,
Antarctic, in places of low population and places where winds and tides would not spread
the fallout to. The aggressors would not waste their cataclysmic weaponry on large areas
of low population, they would concentrate such weaponry on each other and known allies of
each other, mostly densely populated countries likely to be active in a nuclear war. I.e.
wiping out all of Europe gives more 'bang for your buck' than attacking the likes of Alaska,
which would be a waste of the resources that could be deployed to make absolutely certain
of wiping out all of Europe.
So, should the Forces For Good drive the Russians out of Russia at the possible cost of
worldwide nuclear war or should those forces simply let tyranny prevail, knowing that such
evil probably will not result in anything more than Russia forming a new Soviet Union by acquiring
those countries bordering Russia and 'taking an interest' in those countries bordering the new
Soviet Union being Communist.
I say that the Forces For Good should drive the Russians out of the Ukraine and risk the consequences.
Tyranny should not win and to ensure that it does not win we should be prepared to pay the ultimate
cost. If the ultimate cost does turn out to be that all human life on Earth is destroyed then so be it.
We do not owe the universe any obligation to exist and it owes us nothing. It has a passive indifference
to us. We have less significance to the whole universe than one grain of sand has to all the deserts and
beaches on Earth.
