Morning Francis, - you are quite correct, - there is a 'feel good factor' about Queens this season and its not difficult to see why. In essence, - they have the basis of last year's squad, - which should have stayed in the Championship, (but that's a story that we shall leave aside altogether) while about 5 quality players have been added which will only enhance the squad.

There is a local, home grown element to the team - which is brilliant and they have been training hard (which should avoid the issue we had last season of players not being fit and losing a lot of goals in the last 15 minutes) On top of that, - the squad has been assembled well in advance, - with some players on an optional 2 year contract, - and we have played much stronger opposition in pre-season friendlies (and have beaten them) - and many people on this forum have argued for the last decade and more, that there is no point in playing Dalbeattie Star, Annan and Stranraer (with all due respect to these teams) when we should be testing our squad against far 'stronger' opposition, - so that has been a fantastic change.

So there you have it sir, - there are a host of very good reasons why there is a 'feel good' factor, - but of course that must now be translated into results when it matters, - beginning with a successful cup campaign.

We most definitely have a Championship squad, - but we need that to compete against Dunfermline, Falkirk and Kelty Hearts, and the visionary here has been Wullie Gibson, - who is willing to develop young players, local talent and bring in some real quality to the team.

Let's hope that the results go his way, - because he deserves success, - but he also deserves the backing of the local supporters. What Wullie has done in the aforementioned paragraphs, - is what many genuine supporters have been requesting for far too long, - so now it is up to the disenfranchised to accept that there has been a sea change at Palmerston and come along and support their 'hame' team.

Aye, well said! Should really be aiming to win the league to be honest. Dunfermline and Falkirk are beatable. Kelty Hearts may have reached their ceiling but only time will tell I suppose.

Still thinks it’s far too early to say we’ve a chance of winning this league. Another 2-3 experienced players and we might just have a chance.

It's all very well that folk are talking about Queens. It's getting them to actually go to the games that is the problem. Loads of people ask me year in and year out about how the team is doing. My answer is.. "go and see for yourself!" Sadly, that rarely happens.

Only a day to go and we are off and running with a derby match against our neighbours Annan Athletic. Strikers Ruth and Reilly should be fit to play although Wilson and East are still nursing niggling injuries but are due to return to full training on Monday.

Difficult game this against a team with several ex players and local lads with a point to prove.
