Utter utter utter zzzzzzzzz - same old Villa, unable to defend, ponderous with the ball and toothless in attack.

Another "easy opening game" & It’s Groundhog Day once again !

I doubt S G could organise a wood peckers breakfast in Sherwood Forest !

He was totally out thought by Parker

His team out fought in every outfield position

    No attacking nous !

    No midfield creativity !

    No defensive solidarity!

I’d be interested to hear Gerrard try to put a spin on that sh!t

Apart from that everything was great !

is it too early to call for gerrard out? i really hate the way we play under him... its slow, ponderous, repetitive and uninspiring. no way that courtinho, ings and konsa should have been starting. why is he deliberately upsetting fringe players like Sansom and Gilbert? why did we have two left full backs on the bench? we were spoilt under deano at least we played attractive football.

Playing 15 highly paid premiership experienced players v a rugged, solid and determined bunch of nobodies today was an embarrassment, never looked like it and going behind to a goal from a corner that Mings would have cleared proves Gerrard got that decision and the tactics completely wrong for this one! Maybe a back 3 would have been better, our team of short ar5es were no match for the globe trotters, Ings up front on his own v there back 3 was no match, Coutinho was garbage, so was Ramsey but at least Buendia looked lively when he came on who, has to start next week. Very much agrieved tonight after what was a successful pre-season. Same old Villa...... if it taught us one thing, it was to get a decent number 9 and maybe a winger oh and put Mings back in.

Very poor, wasn’t it folks? Isn’t one of the first signs of madness, doing the same thing, over, and over again, and expecting a different result? 2 thirds of a piss poor midfield from last season, starts today. Not forgetting certain players reverting to type, i.e. wingers and Demi-Gods of a Brazillian persuasion. What's happened to Konsa?

Nobody wanted the ball today. Some couldn’t get rid of it quickly enough. Some wouldn’t have really known what to do with it, even if they got it.

So far off of what we all wanted.

    Ah well…F U C K!

Well that was totally underwhelming. I have no clue what Gerard’s tactics were. Sleepwalking the start of the season again.

Main problem was Gerrard and our team didnt know what the tactics where either, very poor display, I for one had hoped Steven was as good a coach as he was a player, 9 months in it appears he is not. Some of the personnel has changed, some would say improved, but the way we are playing has not, that has to be down to the coaching surely. Unless this turns round sharply we have to sack and start again, thats not knee jerk after one game, its considered after no change in play or results in several months.
