I'd have made him an offer in May - don't think the loss of pace will matter so much in this division. If he doesn't think he'll find a hom where he'll be a starter probably say yes, though they suggested he had irons in the fire.

I generally agree. As long as he is taken on as a squad player and is realistic about starts. Mind you, our two new CMs need to avoid injuries. Perhaps, he could make more appearances than expected.
Anyway, as I mentioned elsewhere, if he's got other irons in the fire, then surely he should be playing pre-seasons with them, you'd think.
