    Captain Curt.

Curtis Davies named captain for the forthcoming season. No great surprise. Natural leader...who was captain in all but name last season imo. Hope he stays fit.

Slightly more surprising is the choice of Max Bird as vice captain. Seem to remember Cocu making Bird captain for a brief period two years ago. Good luck to both.

Suggests Bird is not being sold which is a positive I think and more defensive minded midfielders tend to make good captains I think.

What is however disturbing is that this decision was made by one, or maybe a core of no more than 4 or 5, person(s). Where is the opportunity for the other 66,999,995+ of us to have our say, after all its our club and we need to feel part of the process. Also the 200,000 middle class pensionable aged white blokes in the london and southeast areas, such as me, are totally disenfranchised and alienated from the process. Where's the fairness in this? Boo hoo, rant rant.

Obviously has faith in Bird. Suggests not only is he staying, but will likely be a starter each week too.

Seems indicative of the strengthening that has taken place over the last couple of months that the absence of our talismanic leader has gone largely unnoticed.
Suspect it would have been catastrophic this time last season.
We haven’t exactly been lucky so far...Korey Smith looks likely to be out for a week or two, Chester and Anang have yet to start, Mendez-Laing has been unavailable for other reasons and Collins has been firing blanks so far...yet we’ve still got off to the sort of start that has surpassed most expectations.
Hopefully this is more an indicator of Rosenior’s ability to sign strength in depth in the right positions rather than a lack of longer term luck in the transfer market. Hopefully too he can strengthen further in the next few hours without losing any assets such as Knight, Sibley or Cashin.
