Why not have the pitch inspection at 1pm instead of 6pm? The team would normally be setting off at lunchtime day before the match.The Port Vale match was re arranged for Wednesday from Tuesday to accommadate playing Cov on Sunday.We could try to bring forward that fixture back to Tuesday but Vale have every right to say no to that.It's a complete shamble because if we don't play we've got to re arrange the fixture and if we do play there's a chance of injuries.The EFL should be asking questions why it has come to this sorry mess.

If the cov game doesn’t go ahead that might change the team selection plans for port vale.but i think moving port vale game will probably just upset even more clubs supporters on top of which have already been messed about this weekend.

Yes I was thinking the same.

Usually with dodgy pitches there's a chance of minor improvement if left, waterlogged for example.

But with this one nothing will change during the day so why a late inspection is odd.

Maybe if it's the original ref doing the inspection and not a local one then maybe he needs travel time.

Would be a good idea if an EFL rep also goes if only for the expenses claim

Yep, my lawn hasn't improved for over a month now ! so I don't think a few hours is going to make much difference

It just said inspection to be carried out by a “senior referee”…which implies it’s not the match referee doing it.(who is from Oxfordshire area but is fourth official at reading today).they did bring something in about inspections.that they seem to be moving back to the local refs rather than demanding it be the match official…although agreed this pitch situation is not immediate weather related or a fluctuating one..

Re Coventry City v #rufc tomorrow ...
A referee who checked pitch at Coventry Building Society Stadium yesterday declared it unsafe.
Grounds staff working on it before official inspection at 6pm tonight.
Coventry City as angry as everyone else - they don't own the stadium.
