Tuesdays game against Wigan already called off.
Getting a bit silly now. Coventry need to get that sorted asap and EFL need to grow a pair and take some action
EFL need to ****ing put a statement out, it’s not on
Coventry City v Huddersfield Town - Saturday 20th August 2022
Coventry City ground staff trying to get the pitch playable for Saturdays game, after Coventry City
approached Huddersfield Town to reverse the game to the John Smiths stadium.
But Huddersfield Town had commercial concerns, policing & staff issues, so such short notice looked
a no go.
Coventry City have a 10 contract lease to play at the ground, with owners Wasps, Coventry City
saying only way forward is a new " Lay & Play " pitch to be be installed, as soon as possible, but
stadium owners Wasps insist that they are not planning to have a new pitch laid.
Coventry City would have been better having a lease contract with Birmingham City.
It’s their fans I feel sorry for. Having been through the “having to move thing” 15 or so years ago I feel their pain.
As you say, in hindsight they should have kept the agreement with Birmingham. However it’s easy to say that without knowing the practicalities of it.
Generally to be tenants in a stadium in their own town to a team with no affiliation to the City at all is appalling. Just makes me feel how lucky we are to have a chairman like ours.
Coventry City statement to their fans, refunds for cancelled games against Rotherham United
& Wigan Athletic.
Coventry City announce that their supporters are now able to apply for ticket/hospitality
refunds for the postponed games against Rotherham United [Sat 7th August] &
Wigan Athletic [Tues 16th August], after the games were postponed , after the pitch was
deemed unsafe & unplayable.
New dates have Not yet been confirmed, any match tickets or matchday hospitality purchases
are valid for these games when a new date confirmed.
But they appreciate that some fans are unable to attend the new fixture dates, so fans can
now get refunds for these matches.
Coventry City will be providing a gesture of thanks to season ticket holders in recognition of
the inconvenience caused in recent weeks, & for their continued support, which will be
communicated in the due course.
* I would take it that Rotherham United will be informing supporters who bought tickets for
the away game at Coventry City, to apply for refunds if they can not attend the fixture, when
a date is confirmed, or has the club made a statement regarding refunds.
