    Food and Drink

    Well, yes, I'm a bit of a snob when it comes to this, but not a snob enough to think it's all about money.

    Today I would like to match cheese and wine ( very middle class.)


    The cheese you can buy, the drink is a little bit more elusive.

    Lidl, vintage Gouda, extremely good Gouda, possibly worth buying soon for Xmas ( if you like cheesy christmases)

    The wine is Nae mair Neeps Bramble ( oct '21)

    Bloody hell min, that was fine.
    I even shared it this time with Mrs Donsdaft ( a ruthless critic) and it gets 10/10

    I’m a total jakeball on £6 McGuigans Pinot Grigio. Not sure if it’s one for the purists but it goes down like juice and blows the head off you

    Jumpin on here tae say .... Ah had a gig at Carrick Castle Estate last night ( .. well, Saturday ...lang drive there an' back ... so excuse the jet ag ) .... and Ah must mention the caterin staff.

    There were 72 guests at this weddin ... but ... due partially tae the remoteness o' the place, and the ourageously hot, humid weather, only about 2 dizzen were up for the ceilidh.

    It was a fkn struggle tae get the required numbers tae dae the dances properly, but we fkn managed .... that aside tho ...

    Seriously, if onybody readin here has ony influence on weddin arrangements takkin place west o' Perth, tell yer chums tae hire 'Anyas' as yer caterer.

    So many times, Ah've done ceilidhs, and thought 'ffs ... the couple are peyin 5 figures for this venue ... an' that's yer fkn buffet??' ....

    Anyas caterin' did the bar as weel ... and rether than be grippy, they saw only a third o' the audience appear efter the meal ..... and encouraged ... no ... HASSLED every punter tae eat mair than their bellies could deal wi, and would hae got oor band blootered ... includin' the driver ... for free if we hidna firmly said 'thanks, afa kind o' ye, but no!'

    Ah've nithin tae gain fae pushin 'Anyas' caterin' ither than wishin a good experience on folks, but if ye div happen tae say Iron Broo Ceilidh Band tellt ye, then, they might even post up on the Motherwell fitba forum an' gie us a mention

    ..... Oh ... detais ... ie. the food ...

    Rolls ... fillings? ... properly cooked good quality square sausage and/or bacon and/or sliced tomata ... and/or the maist beautifully tender slabs o' chicken breast, and huge veg pakoras ..... and plenty savoury chilli sauce.

    "Would ye like anither bun? ... take anither plate!" .... ye waant a bit o' spicy chicken? or two? ... here's anither ... if ye waant mair, come an' see me"

    "You boys waant anither beer? Whidyiz waant? If ye waant moar, jist come tae ra bar"

    ..... onywye, bein the want not waste not type, Ah got stuffed tae the point Ah couldnae eat onymair ... 'doggybagged 3 slabs o' chicken, an' two tennis ba' sized pakoras ... Ah had nae need tae cook aa day!

    ... so ... as a guy fa plays mir weddins per year than Celtic or Rangers end o' season points tally, fan Ah say 10/10 for Anyas caterin ... Ah ken fit Ah'm spikkin aboot!

    Anya is Hungarian for Mother.

    I don't think Hungarian mothers usually provide pakora though.

    Nevertheless min .... we were gettin fkn 'mothered' by the caterers .... nane o' yer burnt tae **** 'stovies' (nor yer barely cooked stovies') ... nane o' yer sloppy prepared sannies chucked tigither by some fkn community service criminal team ... this wis a team o' caterers fa were fkn frustrated haein prepared a buffet for 72 guests ... only for near 30 comin in aboot ... and nae interested in how much they could tak hame wi them. This was hospitality in every sense o' the word ... crackin bunch o' folk, there tae dae a job and did it beyond the proverbial call.

    As Ah maybe said, Ah've seen a lot o' caterin companies/arrangements ower 20 years continuous daein weddin/events ceilidhs, and these guys might nae be the best, but have made it hard/maybe impossible tae think aboot fa might hae been better..... nae only interms o' the quality o' the grub .. or the perfect preparedness o' same, but the personal touch ... as in they were oot among folk gaein them fit they wanted ... nae jist standin soor faced ahin' a coonter. They were as much a part o' the event as the duncers an' the band

    Full roast beef Sunday dinner goes down a treat with Neeps's Bramble and raisin wine.

    Nop notch booze again, bring on the next cup game.
