There is never any mention of Calmac bosses contacting the Company (s) where their ferries receive their annual overhaul why these ferries are breaking down during the rest of the year.
Even if your car is serviced every year it's possible that a defect could occur that puts it off the road.

Of course but people including the media have been asking why the Calmac ferries keep breaking down despite them supposedly getting their winter overhaul every year (annual service).
    Something is far wrong.
The Calmac management blame elderly frrries but the MV Finlaggan which broke down and was withdrawn rom service last August is only eleven years old and a ‘youngster’ in the Calmac fleet of ferries.
    I know one thing.
If was a tourist whose booked sailing on a Calmac ferry which had subsequently broken down and had been withdrawn from service I would never again sail on a Calmac ferry ever again as I would have my next holiday on the Mainland where I would not need to use a Camac ferry.

There's a massive difference between servicing and maintenance.

Pre 2007 there was never a problem with Calmac ferries continually breaking down and being withdrawn from service.
