    Callum Styles signs new contract

Barnsley Football Club can confirm that Callum Styles has signed a new contract at the Club and joins Millwall on a season-long loan.

Prior to departing South Yorkshire, the Hungarian international committed his future to the Club, putting pen to paper on a new deal that sees him extend his stay at the Reds until 2025.

The 22-year-old midfielder, who has featured eight times for the Reds this term, will link up with Gary Rowett’s side at the Den.

He has made 129 appearances in all competitions for the Reds since joining from Bury in August 2018.

Everyone at Oakwell wishes Callum the best of luck in his loan move.

To add to all the other young players - another young player who’s career has come to a grinding halt at Barnsley over this last 12 months or so.
He was poor last season - and has got steadily worse this season.
You only have to watch the Ipswich goals to see that.

But - we all know (and surprisingly it seems even the club realises this) - there is a player in Styles waiting to reveal itself.

So it’s great that he’s gone.
And great that he signed a new contract.
Good bit of business conducted by Barnsley - which in itself is unusual these days.

Styles hasn't signed an extension to his Barnsley contract in a desire to return here Nudge.

It is so we can try to get a fee for him next summer.

In what way do you think it's good business by the Club Nudge ? Saving a wage for a few month's , losing a fairly experienced wing back without any proven cover and allowing an improving Oduor (cover )to also go out on loan , I find it bizarre that a player who seemingly doesn't want to be here ? Signs a contract extension , even more strange is the choice of club ?? Weird ,

    Yes I realise that.
On the evidence of the last 12 months - IMO the value of Styles would be around the £200K region.
But we all know there’s a much more valuable player in there.
Hopefully he can up his valuation at Millwall.

Which reminds me of the Giddings / Khaled interview of November 2021.
When Khaled openly admitted that the head coach (Schopp) had been instructed by the directors (assume Conway) that the tactics of the team had to be altered from the Ismael era - so that players would attract bids from other clubs.

That is to say - player sales were seen by the directors as more important than the success of the club.

I don’t think that worked did it Mr Conway ???
Those instructions to the head coach were largely responsible for …..

The club dropping like a stone down the league.
The club finishing rock bottom below clubs that had points deducted.
And now we have a fire sale where we are more or less trying to give players away.

It's a punt Roma that may or may not come off financially. The effect on the team is secondary.

If Styles goes for a fee next summer bigger than any bid we may have turned down this summer then it is a financial gain, added to the saving of wages.

There will probably be a release clause amount in his new contract insisted on by Styles's agent so he won't be stuck at Barnsley next summer. That release clause amount may well be relatively low and could well be lower than bids (if any)we have received this summer.

This season Styles has shown he is capable at Third Division level. His replacement as LWB will need to show at least equal capability for it not to affect performances. Wasn't it Parekh that said the new Board's priority is performances on the pitch ?

Lions fan here, allright Lads Styles has come on board saying the main reason he came to the Den was because of the gaffer Gary Rowett, also being in the Championship he has a bigger profile ( we are on Sky twice in the next few games) , to play for Hungary. I have also noticed we are getting more Hungarians coming on our facebook page who seem pleased. You guys coming back up this season ???

Oreyt Claw , hope your all well ? As for Styles what's the connection between him and Rowett ? ! I've been a big fan of Style's since he joined us , however the last 18 month's or so he seems disinterested apart from playing for Hungary that is , he's a talent with plenty of potential to improve further , no disrespect to Millwall here but it's a strange move/loan when allegedly there were bigger clubs after him , hope he does well for you , what's your view about him ? Can you afford him ? Anyway all the Best " Up the Hamlet ",,,
