It is just showing respect which the younger generation do not appear to understand.
It's a very poor show in your opinion but maybe Dayster has a different opinion that he's perfectly entitled to express?

I’ll stand for any anthem bar one. I find it disrespectful to ever have to hear it.

Respect is earnt not freely giving. Maybe if older generation understood this the country wouldn’t be such a shambles

Great stuff Dayster. The single most illogical post I have ever read on Dundee Mad. God help us if you are an example of the alternative to the older generation. Apologies if you have been joking and I failed to pick up on the humour.

Imagine not standing for your own national anthem.

Even if he doesn't recognise it as his he could remain respectful.

Sitting for any national anthem is petty.

Probably stands for a corries folk song though

How do you be 'respectful'? Is it cast in stone somewhere that to stand is to show respect? Is it respectful to stand for any national anthem? What if you don't know it's a national anthem? Is it disrespectful not to stand when it's played? What if that national anthem speaks of an English General crushing the nation you recognise as your nation? Do we stand if some American sings My Country, 'tis of thee?

In summary, who are you or any of the others so vehemently against Dayster's stance, to say what is and is not 'respectful'?

He couldn’t have made it any more plain if he said he wouldn’t stand for the Pakistan national anthem.

Spin it any way you want but we can see it for what it is.
