Fine play was not enough for Motherwell as Hearts scored three without reply in a thrilling game at Fir Park. - External Link

No complaints about that result, we got what we deserved. We competed well throughout but yet again were toothless and ineffective up front whereas Hearts were clinical when it mattered.

There are definitely signs of improvement and cause for optimism under Hammell but we’ve got a long way to go yet.

On another day we hopefully get the rub of the green, as today was one where we couldn't even buy a goal. Their first was as a result of comic-cut defending by Solheim and that put us on the back foot. But ... it was entirely against the run of play, yet gave them a foothold to sit back and hit on the break. We seem now to have a shape, a plan and a confidence to go forward, but with the next 5 games or so, we could play well but get very little out of the points bag. It's really refreshing that SH is able to see when changes should be made; the subbies gave us an injection of pace, stretched their midfield, and allowed us to get forward more and more. All in all ... it was never a 3 nil defeat - so to speak - but, on the other hand it was !
